The challenge:
St. Mary’s Primary School got in touch with us to see if we could help with developing their Student Expectations which required not just creating an identity for it but the tougher challenge was to get buy-in from the students themselves, to follow the expectations set out.

The insight:
We ran a school-wide questionnaire to find out which animal was most loved by the kids. Nothing better than getting a cute animal to help communicate their expectations to them, especially one that’s been chosen by them. To our surprise the ‘Sugar Glider’ came out the clear winner.

The idea:
Based on the results that came through the questionnaire, we set out and developed 3 versions of the Sugar Gilder, and of course we made them look cute enough to get the message across! We then used the sugar glider as a ‘mascot’ of sorts, to communicate these expectations to the students, through posters, banners, badges, certificates and animated videos. We even developed encouraging behavioural cards, that were given out to the students by the teachers when they showed how well they were following the expectations.

The result:
It was a huge success. They loved their Sugar Gliders and would do anything to get a hold of one of the badges. Yes, the badges became their treasured possessions. The number of incidents in the school lowered tremendously and the behavioural cards were printed twice over, being handed out for good behaviour.
